Equipping the Afghan House Church

The Fruit from Training Leaders in Secret

Afghanistan street shot at dawn

Across Afghanistan and within scattered diaspora communities, Afghan Christians continue to follow Jesus despite the persecution and danger.

In 2025, Shai Fund trained 30 Afghan house church leaders—both inside the country and across the diaspora. These men and women were equipped with the tools and courage to disciple 147 others in some of the world’s most hostile environments for Christians

Discipleship in the Dark

Because of our investment, these leaders gained practical tools, spiritual depth, and lasting training materials that will continue to be shared across Afghan Christian networks worldwide.

One of the leaders reflected upon his time, “I was deeply moved by the genuine hunger to learn about biblical leadership. During the session, my goal was to help you understand that leading a house church is far more than organizing meetings, it’s a calling to serve with humility, to nurture others in their faith, and to live as a visible example of Christ’s love and truth. I truly believe that God is raising up faithful leaders to build His Church.”

Tools That Travel

The training didn’t stop with those 30 leaders. Each session was recorded and shared with others who couldn’t attend in person. These resources have become lifelines for isolated believers, forming the foundation for stronger leadership and deeper discipleship in house churches across the region.

This project is one part of a broader effort to strengthen the Afghan church from within. The goal is to equip leaders who can disciple others, build up underground fellowships, and share the Gospel in places where doing so could cost them everything.

The need is urgent. But the fruit is already visible.

One participant shared,“I didn’t just learn, I was changed. My faith grew deeper. I found my identity in Christ. And I finally understood how to live with purpose, even in fear.”

Continuing the Work

Shai Fund remains committed to walking alongside Afghan believers by training leaders, planting churches, and equipping a movement that refuses to be silenced.

The Afghan church may be underground, but it is alive, resilient, and growing.
